This view of the site of the Hippodrome, taken around 1910 shows the derelict buildings dating from the 1850s which had been condemned and unoccupied for some years. Strangley enough the advertising hoarding is for the rival Theatre Royal in Gordon Road. The tobacconist on the right was there for many years. << back
