The Aldershot Civic Society are meeting at the Smith Dorien on the 2nd October and would like to invite everyone in Wellesley to come along and see what we are about. We have regular contact with Rushmoor Borough Council, with whom we have a representative every month at our meetings in the form of the town centre manager, who also updates us on all that is going on in the town.
We also get involved in local planning, from things like the new town centre developments to saving local pubs.
The civic society also has regular guest speakers at our meetings giving members insights into how things work in the area. This month we have a guest from the West End Centre, who will share an update at this meeting.
The Aldershot Civic Society had also adopted the local railway station, and volunteers from the group, working with the station manager, have put artwork up in the waiting rooms and flowers on the platforms, making a wonderful difference to how the station looks.
So if you are interested in Aldershot and want to learn more about the area and get involved in making it better, why not come along and find out more.
The meeting is at Smith Dorrien House Queen’s Avenue, Wellesley GU11 2BT.
