Earlier in 2019 the Civic Society had the White Lion pub protected as an asset of community value (ACV). In November we were notified that the owner wishes to sell the pub, and in response we put out a call for anyone wanting to contribute to saving the pub to get in touch. The Civic Society then facilitated a meeting of these people, and we have since then been contributing to the formation of this group, which is looking to submit a bid to buy the pub. The Civic Society has officially registered as a bidder to buy the the pub, which triggered a 6 month moratorium on selling the pub. We now have about 4 months to formally set up a group, develop a business plan and raise finance to buy the pub! If you would like to take part in this work please get involved:
